About
Mississippi’s own award-winning Coast Chorale celebrates
27 years. Locally known as “the Chorale”, organized in
1992, as an all-volunteer choral organization made up of
singers from the Gulf Coast area. There are
approximately 40 members at any given time, most of who
live in Hancock and Harrison Counties. Membership to the
Chorale is open to all singers of all interests,
ethnicity, ages and backgrounds without audition.
Many members have been formally trained or have previous
choral experience, although neither is a prerequisite.
The Artistic Director reserves the right to place
singers in appropriate voice parts based on vocal range
and quality. The Chorale presents concerts annually
throughout the Gulf Coast and beyond featuring a wide
variety of musical material. We are the only Gulf Coast
civic singing group to offer this variety at any given
concert.
The goal of the Chorale, consistent with the Coast Chorale’s mission, is to present a rich variety of choral music, free of charge, to its audiences. In addition to an Artistic Director, the group employs a piano accompanist who plays at all rehearsals and performances. When fiscally possible, the Chorale enhances the performances through contracted instrumentalists for instrumental accompaniment and soloists.
